Context


India has embarked on an ambitious plan of developing 100 Smart Cities over the next decade. Development of these Smart Cities requires a focus on a wide variety of overarching issues like Resource Optimization including consumption of material and energy, Smart mobility conservation of water, improved health by reducing air and water pollution, waste minimisation, and E-governance. This will all be done with IoT and Big data analytics. University, College campuses and buildings are the second largest consumers of public resources (Energy and Water), after the industrial sector. There is thus an urgent need to develop campuses where the latest Smart Grid Technology is deployed to develop models of innovation and excellence that would serve as catalysts for speedy implementation of the Smart Cities project.
